For the exhibition “Nah und Gut”, German artists who had been living in the Netherlands for a long time were asked to imagine their idea of the famous German expression “Heimweh” (home sickness). For three months, I ran a shop. Visitors could buy products that I had personally brought from Germany. The choice of products was based on conversations I had had with German expats.
My idea was that the shop should also function as a communication space between my fellow artists and the public in the neighbourhood.
The artists were invited to be shopkeepers for a day and to stage an event in the space. The artist duo Roseboom/Weemen completely changed the interior to sell only sausages.
